Maria Sakovsky is currently an ETH postdoctoral fellow at CMASLab. Her research interests focus on deployable and reconfigurable space structures with particular emphasis on large antenna structures. She is especially interested in investigating ultra-thin composite materials for realizing lightweight shell structures capable of undergoing large elastic deformations.

Maria Sakovsky completed her PhD at the California Institute of Technology, where she developed a deployable satellite antenna based on origami concepts utilizing elastomer composites. She concurrently worked with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory on developing cryogenically rated thin-ply composite antennas for deep space missions. Prior to this, she received her MSc in Space Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and her BSc in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto.
