ReTex: Textile recycling
"Clothing the cycle"
Currently most old clothes and fabrics are either downcycled to insulation material or just ends up on a landfill. In Switzerland alone over 100 000 tons of fabric waste accumulate every year.
Concept
One main problem of fabric recycling is the length of fibres you can retrieve. That is what we want to change by developing a way to decompose textiles, keeping the long fibres. A new and stable yarn can e.g. be spun, from which we can make new fabric. Therefore, we ensure real fabric recycling and a circular economy.
