Thin-shell Thermoplastic Composites

Thin-shell composites are capable of withstanding extreme bending curvatures without failure.

We have developed novel modeling approaches and sophisticated experimental techniques to understand the nonlinear deformation behavior, and introduced novel manufacturing processes to precisely control the microstructure and morphology. We apply this knowledge to the design of ultralight space and biomedical deployable structures.
