ftero2 - Airborne Wind Energy
Harvesting the power of wind by using the innovative approach of Airborne Wind Energy
The team of eight students is developing an efficient, light weight, and autonomous airborne wind energy (AWE) aircraft.
The team utilizes a previously developed ground station, capable of generating up to 40 kW of power. A new aircraft will be developed, focusing on autonomy, efficiency and light weight design.
By integrating morphing concepts into the aircraft, the aircraft can fly more efficient, compared to aircraft using conventional aircraft.
However, the student team faces many challenges in the fields of structural design, controls, and manufacturing.
