MotoStudent
The idea behind the focus project MotoStudent is to introduce extensive use of composite materials in motorbikes. Unlike what already happened in bicycle and sports car industry, motorcycle producers are still hesitant to an extensive use of composite materials and, especially for structural components, only few attempts have been done. Considering the neat increase in performance and in efficiency that composites have introduced in different fields, this focus project aims to study the potentialities of composites in race bikes and to develop a completely new design that may introduce a huge technological leap forward in the motorcycle industry.
In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of composite materials, the students of this focus project will take part to the 5th edition of the international competition MotoStudent, where university student teams from all over the world are challenged to design and manufacture a racing motorcycle prototype. In this way, our team will have the possibility to build a prototype that will be evaluated and tested on the Motorland Aragón FIM Circuit by an international committee and to directly compete with other teams.
